SonoAnalyzer beta

PowerUltrasonics SonoAnalyzer sonotrode (ultrasonic horn) analysis software
PowerUltrasonics SonoAnalyzer software makes the power of finite-element analysis accessible to all! Low cost, no specialist expertise required. Beta-testers wanted now!

SOLD OUT

Sonotrode (ultrasonic horn) design is difficult because sonotrodes must be resonant at the correct frequency to function correctly. Furthermore the mode-shape must be correct for the job the tool is intended to do. As a result, designs have traditionally been limited to certain tried-and-tested shapes, as shown in the examples from the ZVEI Handbook reproduced here.

To go beyond these known designs requires finite-element analysis (FEA), often repeated multiple times with different geometry to find a shape that works optimally. Although computing power has increased enormously in recent years, FEA remains relatively expensive because of the cost of software and the expert personnel required to operate it. The PowerUltrasonics SonoAnalyzer software is an easy way to access the power of finite-element analysis at low cost without specialist expertise.

  • Choose from a range of pre-defined sonotrode shapes
  • Easily change dimensions to suit your needs
  • Calculate resonance modes and frequencies
  • Automatically adjust dimensions to "tune" the sonotrode to the required frequency
  • <For advanced users> Define your own sonotrode shapes to supplement the pre-defined range

PowerUltrasonics SonoAnalyzer beta will be available shortly for beta-testing. The initial version will be limited, with additional features being added regularly up until launch of the release version. I'm looking for about 20 users willing to test it and report their experiences. Users of non-Microsoft Windows PCs (Linux, Mac or Solaris) will be given preference. All those who apply to be beta testers will receive a discount voucher for purchase of the first production release version, planned for mid-2008.

Update: Thanks to all the 20 testers now registered. If you have already applied you should now be able to download the program (otherwise please contact me). I've now closed this offer, but I'd be happy to make special arrangements for anyone interested in testing the program on Mac or Solaris systems.
